Why HEIF Images Need Conversion Before Sharing
HEIF images are efficient, but they are not universally supported. A photo that opens perfectly on an iPhone may fail on another device, inside a web form, or on an older desktop application. Converting HEIF to PDF can make the file easier to share and submit.
Why HEIF compatibility varies
HEIF relies on image codecs that are not available in every browser or operating system. This is why some users can preview HEIC files while others only see an unsupported file.
When PDF is a better format
PDF is usually accepted by document portals, printers, and business workflows. If the image is being submitted as evidence, a receipt, a scan, or an attachment, PDF may be easier for the recipient to handle.
Use JPG as a fallback
If your browser cannot decode HEIF directly, convert the image to JPG first on your device, then create the PDF. That two-step path avoids codec limitations while still producing a shareable document.
